Due to heavy smog and bad weather, Director, Education Department has instructed all government, private aided and affiliated schools to remain closed for three days i.e. 09-11-2017 to 11-11-2017 vide its Official notification dated 8-11-17 .
The decision has been taken due to heavy fog/smog in Punjab and accidents are occurring every day. Punjab Govt wants all the students and people of the state to stay safe and appeal to drive safely in this fog/smog. All the schools will re-open on 13th Nov., 2017 (monday)
The paddy being grown in Punjab is alien to conditions in Punjab, and the burning of its stubble has had a big impact on the state’s air quality which is forming heavy smog and making it difficult to breathe. The Department of Environment, Government of Punjab, has already banned the burning of crop residue in the fields through an order passed in 2013, under the Air Act, 1981, but in vain as majority of the farmers still opt for burning of residue rather than opting for other methods.
