Elon Musk’s Satellite-Based Internet Service Is All Set To Make Its Mark In India

Tesla and Space X’s CEO, Elon Musk has initiated a satellite-based internet service that will enable the remote areas to engulf with fast internet service all around. This cheaper web for millions in the remote areas will be available in India in 2022 through SpaceX satellites that will be launched in Orbit.

 

Pre-orders for the Starlink service are now open in India for $99 (roughly Rs 7000), with orders being filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The pre-booking amount is refundable though, in case you change your mind after paying, the money will be refunded to you.

Users are routed to an information page after pressing the Order Now button, where they must enter information such as their first and last names, phone numbers, and email addresses. Users will also be asked to enter their credit card information in order to make a $99.00 deposit. Moreover, users’ personal information is protected from cybercrimes such as  “loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, and destruction,” according to the company.

The service is currently in beta testing, and any user can check whether the services are available in their area by going to the Starlink website and typing in their city and postal code.

For the Starlink project, which aims to provide high-speed Internet via a network of around 12,000 satellites, the company currently promises speeds of 50 to 150Mbps.

“Later this year, speed will double to 300Mb/s, and latency will drop to 20ms,” Musk said in a tweet on February 22.
