Even though the word “mathematics” gives us a headache, there shouldn’t be a problem with solving some simple equation right? Well, actually there are some differences between people on the internet when it comes to this simple math problem. Of course, this is a piece of cake for all you math geniuses out there.

Before tiring to solve this math problem, take a deep breath, find your happy place, it is just a simple mathematics equation. Yes, this simple problem has created some differences on the social media, but still give yourself a chance to solve this challenge:
6 ÷ 2(1+2) =?
Most of the people who tried to solve this problem got an answer of 9 or 1, also there were some who went with 0, 3 and 6, but those were very wrong. The answer 9 and 1 were a result of how people end up solving the equation. Nevertheless, there can only be one answer.

YourDecisions is a YouTube channel created by Presh Talwalkar and he is giving us the explanation why did this math problem go viral. He explained that there are two ways to solve the problem, an “old’ one and a “new’ one. So, if you use the “old’ one you will end up with 1 as a solution and if you use the “new” one you will end up with 9 as a solution.
