Mithali Raj reclaims the top spot in ICC womens ODI Batsman Rankings

Mithali Dorai Raj ( born 3 December 1982) is an Indian cricketer and the captain of the Indian Women’s cricket team in Tests and ODI. Often regarded as one of the greatest cricketing batters to have ever played the game, she is the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket and the only female cricketer to surpass the 6,000 run mark in ODIs. She is the first player to score 7 consecutive 50s in ODIs. Raj is the first captain (men or women) to lead India to an ICC ODI World Cup final twice – 2005 and 2017

Mithali Raj at 19 emerged as one of India’s most capable batsmen with a staggering 214 against England in the second and final Test at Taunton. The middle-order bat now has the second highest score in women’s Test cricket, having been surpassed by Kiran Baluch who scored 242 against West Indies in March 2004.

India’s first-round exit in the Women’s World Cup at home in 2013 was a major disappointment for Raj. She continued to churn out the runs, topping the charts for India even as they failed to advance to the semi-finals of the Women’s World T20 2014.

Now she has surpassed rest of the players to be on the top of the ICC women player.
