Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Mr. Nitin Gadkari has approved the Northern Bye-pass road having a length of 44 kms from Ladhowal to Kohara which will decongest the traffic on Chandigarh Road and Jalandhar Byepass Chowk.
The meeting was held at New Delhi on Tuesday in the presence of MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, MLA Sanjay Talwar, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal and Lakhveer Singh. Mr. Gadkari also approved the Jagraon – Raikot 51 Km road to be made by NHAI.
An outer ring around the city will be developed which will eventually decongest the traffic from inside the city which will result in smooth flow of the traffic inside the city.

A team from NHAI will also survey the Ludhiana – Kharar road and will over see if elevated road can be constructed from vardhman Chowk to Fortis Hospital. Gadkari was told by authorities that if Highway was constructed on Chandigarh Road then it will result loss of business to local people as only 10 ft wide space will left after the highway which is very less for parking or local traffic.
DC Pradeep Aggarwal told that Mr. Nitin Gadkaro was very positive in solving the traffic related problems of the city and authorities will survey the land availability and compensation to the land owners and will submit the detailed reports to the ministry shortly.
