Salman Khan is helping the daily wage workers of the film industry by eliminating all things in between and directly putting money in their bank accounts. After it was revealed that the actor was taking care of nearly 25,000 wage workers, many wondered how Salman was actually helping these workers in the times of coronavirus lockdown when shoots are suspended and people who earn on a day-to-day basis are worst affected. A report in Mid-Day now reveals that the superstar has asked for the bank account numbers of 25,000 wage workers from FWICE (Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees) and he will be providing them their monthly salary or more directly in their bank accounts. The report quoted the General Secretary of FWICE, Ashok Dubey, confirming the news. He said a few officials from Salman’s production house reached out to them on Saturday and enquired about the daily wage workers. He was quoted saying, “I informed them that they earn about Rs 15,000 a month. They said that Salman wants the account details of the 25000 workers, and he will sponsor them. Salman’s father and veteran screenwriter Salim Khan refused to give any detail about his direct contribution to the wage workers. In his statement to the daily, he mentioned that he can talk about the other things that his sons have done for the staff and workers. The senior writer revealed that their family has a principle – Humara paisa jahan jaye, kisike kaam aye (our money should help people) and therefore, all his sons are taking care of their staff individually and also providing for the security guards of their building. He added that the employees have been asked to stay home while their salaries and other needs are being taken care of. The film industry has helped big time in the COVID-19 crisis. While Akshay Kumar donated a huge sum of Rs 25 crore to the PM’s Relief Fund, Varun Dhawan contributed Rs 40 lakh, designer Sabyasachi donated Rs 1.5 crore, actor Prabhas contributed Rs 4 crore and Kapil Sharma gave Rs 40 lakh.
