Despite Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal’s strict instructions that no clubs, restaurants, or night bars should operate in the city after 11.30 p.m., several entertainment venues, mostly in South City, are defying the top cop’s orders.
The owners of such restaurants and clubs are said to pay the least attention to police orders because of their political and bureaucratic ties.
Even the entry of minor boys and girls is allowed inside these clubs ensuring that no police checking will be done. With this greediness, these teens consume liquor and smoke at these places.
In South City, there are numerous private farmhouses that are given on rent to conduct late-night parties.
The Sarabha Nagar police conducted a surprise search at Club69 restaurant on Canal Road, New Asha Puri, South City, on Monday at around 12.30 a.m. and discovered it open, with a crowd dancing to the beat of the DJ.
Joint CP City Deepak Pareek said that Residents have also complained about this restaurant because it hosts parties until late at night and the DJ is also a big nuisance.
As a result, the police lodged a complaint against the restaurant’s owner under Section 188 of the IPC (disobedience to a duly promulgated public servant’s order).
“We will not allow any such violation in future and all police stations have been told to conduct surprise checking and take immediate action as per the law against the owners of such restaurants,” added Pareek.
Residents are calling for action
Residents say that several restaurants in the city charge exorbitant prices for liquor and hookah. Some also assure the clients that the police would not raid their clubs and that there is no fear of police personnel over there. Residents also urged parents to keep an eye on their children who frequently visit such clubs for late-night celebrations.
Youngsters without masks
According to a youngster who was present at the party said that young boys and girls from different places had come to take part in the late-night gathering. Even the visitors were not asked to quit the party at 11:30 pm. No one was wearing the mask and everyone was served alcohol including the teens too.
